WLNG went on the air on August 13, 1963 at 1600 AM at 6:00 AM, and in 1969 WLNG 92.1 FM went on the air. WLNG is owned and operated by Bark Out Loud Dogs Media, LLC serving the Hamptons, and Eastern Long Island, but over the years it has reached out, and today can be heard in the Towns of Brookhaven, and the Coastline of Connecticut and Rhode Island.
WLNG's local news coverage is considered the best by many locals and is famous for being the definitive source for weather information during major storms.
On July 17, 1996, the station was broadcasting a live remote from Jamesport, New York when TWA Flight 800 crashed off the shorelines of Center Moriches. We were the first media on the scene. During Hurricane Sandy in 2012 WLNG continued broadcasting and streaming online on generator power, using flashlights, as the storm surge rose to "ankle deep" in the studio. WLNG went off the air for a short period time, but at 5:30 AM the next day Gary Sapiane was back on the air.
