John "Johnny Mac" McMorris
Johnnymac@wlng.com

John “Johnny Mac” McMorris is thrilled to be part of the WLNG family. After a 31-year break from radio, he’s back on the air following his passion of playing great music and connecting with listeners on his favorite station, WLNG.

John grew up in Port Washington and spent part of his childhood in England before heading to Ithaca College. A few years after graduating, he married his college sweetheart, Alisa, and together they have two children, Arianna and Andrew. Arianna is now pursuing her Master’s degree while building a career in education and the arts as a choreographer.

Johnny Mac first got his start in radio in the early ’90s on a modern rock station in upstate New York before moving into national radio sales in New York City. He later earned a Master’s degree in School Counseling and has spent the past 26 years working as a School Counselor. Today, he works in two elementary schools, where he has helped launch a new elementary school counseling program.

Along with his work on the air and in education, John serves as Co-President of The Andrew McMorris Foundation with his wife, Alisa. The foundation was created in memory of their 12 year old son Andrew, who was tragically killed by a drunk driver in 2018 while on a Boy Scout hike. Through advocacy, education, and scholarships, the foundation works to end drunk, drugged & impaired driving and support young people making a difference in their communities.

While being away from broadcasting, Johnny Mac never lost the radio bug, and joining WLNG is truly a dream come true. He is passionate about bringing joy to listeners and hopes to brighten each day with great music and a positive vibe. He looks forward to being part of the East End’s airwaves for many years to come.
