Born in Manchester England March 22, 1928 Served in the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Of the British Army in WWII. Came to the U.S. in 1948 and settled in Sag Harbor. His wife followed in 1949 A watchmaker he went to work in FRITTS Jewelers and stayed there when the store was bought by The Esslingers for whom he worked for many years. Doing some model-making for ROWE Industries he went to work for them full time. Worked his way to Vice President until they went out of business. During his tenure there he, his wife Vera together with Del and Gerry Boyle opened the COVE MENSHOP. In the early 1970s he bought out the Boyles and opened the Cove Jewelers which he operated until the mid nineties WLNG carried his advertising daily. Very active in the community he was a Founding member of The Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce and many years its president. He also was a founding member of the 55 year old Sag Harbor Community Band and is currently its President and M.C. He also holds membership for 60 years in WAMPONAMON LODGE of Masons. Sag Harbor Lions Club is another organization to which he belongs. Another organization he helped found is The Long Island Tourism & Convention Commission of which he was Chairman. He served for many years on the Zoning Board of Sag Harbor and is currently Chairman of The East Hampton Town Housing Authority. Every week-day morning he can be heard on WLNG at the end of the 7:30 news. Together with Paul Sidney he raised $26,000.00 for victims of the Emporium Hardware Store fire. Another position he has held is President of The Sag Harbor Board of Education.
